Neuromuscular and Skeletal Postdoctoral Associate position

A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Neuromuscular and Skeletal laboratory at the Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center, University of Louisville (KY). Since its inauguration in 1798, the University of Louisville has evolved into one of America’s finest academic institutions, a recognized force for excellence in education and innovation in research and scholarly activity. Market competitive salary and benefits are offered.

You will be involved in research projects aimed at investigating postural control in individuals with spinal cord injury with and without spinal cord epidural stimulation, utilizing an innovative cable-driven robotic device. You will be also involved in research projects focused on developing novel neuromuscular electrical stimulation paradigms to improve neuromuscular recovery after spinal cord injury. The laboratory is equipped with acquisition systems for electromyography, kinematic and kinetic data; dynamometers for torque assessments with and without neuromuscular electrical stimulation; ultrasound, 3T MRI and DXA for musculoskeletal assessments; near infrared spectroscopy probe for muscle oxidative metabolism assessment; Bod Pod for body composition assessment.

Applicants should have a MD or PhD with basic training in human physiology; desired qualifications include experience in research related to neurophysiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology and/or biomechanics. A background in spinal cord injury research is beneficial. Applicants are expected to have a strong interest in using multidisciplinary research approaches and be highly motivated to work independently and as part of a team.
